Advent Antiphons: December 15th

Behold, the Lord will come, and all his holy ones with him; and on that day there will be a great light.    Cf. Zechariah 14: 5-7

The Lord does not desire to come only by Himself.  That would be beneath the glory of His name.  Instead, He desires to come to save us accompanied by all the holy ones, namely, the angels, saints, and heavenly powers who are already enjoying the fullness of His Advent.

God does not save individual persons in isolation.  We are saved in the communion of believers that is the Church, whose ranks reach from the earth to the heavens.  The great light of our era is the illuminating sense of belonging in the face of a culture that tries to tell us that we exist only for ourselves.   We are never alone in the Lord.
