Advent Antiphons: December 8th

Glorious things are spoken of you, O Mary, for from you arose the sun of justice, Christ our God.

Once upon a time, God went in search of a mother for Himself.  A woman, a mere mortal, who could give birth to the Sun of Justice.  Such a woman needed to be conceived with no trace of sin, so that no earthly blemish would diminish the brilliance of His light.

The first streaks of Advent’s light are celebrated today as God fashions for Himself, in the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a spotless horizon for His dawn.

What a worker of wonders.  We cannot begin to fathom the glorious refashioning of our own soul that God has in mind.
