Advent Antiphons: December 6th

O people of Sion, behold, the Lord will come to save the nations, and the Lord will make the glory of his voice heard in the joy of your heart.   Cf. Isaiah 30: 19, 30

The glory of God is made manifest in the ring of human laughter for it reflects the sublime splendor of His own voice.  His voice is heard in the joyful exchange among believers, for joy is a fruit of the Holy Spirit and is therefore an infallible sign of God’s presence.  When we meet a joyful person, we encounter God.

A joyful heart is fully confident that it is saved, and saved by someone mighty.  With His Advent, the world will be safe from evil, and therefore it will be totally filled with joy.

Until then, our own joy allows God’s presence, His voice, to break into a weary world one encounter at a time.
