We await a savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will change our mortal bodies, to conform with his glorified body. Cf. Philippians 3:20-21
What does a mortal body crave? Immortality. Is there anything in this finite world that can give us immortality? Not one thing, though indeed we keep searching for it. Every purchase, every bite chewed, every mile driven, every completed sentence is, on one level, a reach for the immortal. But all of it has an end. Therefore, we wait for the coming of real immortality.
How remarkable it is that God desires to glorify our mortal selves, even our bodies, discarding nothing He has made, instead saving every last fiber of our being. His Advent will be total and thorough, because we, in our immortal thirst, will be satisfied with nothing less.
